To put it simply, essential oils work to directly influence the brain's limbic system, which controls and processes human emotion. For example, Frankincense helps stimulate your limbic system which in turn helps make you feel at ease and balanced.

The mixes mentioned above help elevate the aforementioned mood for each essential oil.

How To Use Essential Oils!

Okay, now that we've shown you the table containing the positive essential oils, how can you possibly use their mixes to maximise their efficiency?

This is where we can become very creative for your Mother's Day gift, because there are a variety of different ways you can use these oils to give an appropriate present this coming Mother's Day!

From home-made gifts to creating beautifully-scented rooms, here are the best ways we can recommend using essential oils for Mother's Day.

Home-made Spray

Possibly one of the easiest ways you can utilize essential oils is by creating a home-made spray, using one (or more, depending on the mix!) of the mentioned oils.

Sprays are simple to make, not to mention a fun way to implement essential oils to your mother's life! They can efficiently, and effectively, cover the room with pleasant fragrances that can appropriately boost specific moods!

It's quite easy to create a homemade aromatic essential oil spray, simply use an empty spray bottle, use the appropriate mix listed above, add a few other ingredients and you're free to spray your aromatic mixture around the house. It's that simple!

A common recipe for essential oil sprays is the following:

  • Empty spray bottle
  • Approx 2 - 5 drops of each essential oil, depending on the mood you want to express
  • Distilled water to fill the bottle
  • 1/2 tsp of alcohol (optional, for cleaning sprays)

Recipes

Thinking of making something delicious for Mother's Day? A warm drink? A hot roast? Then we highly recommend using essential oils to enhance the flavour, scent, and other sensational additions to your dishes!

In fact, we highly recommend all of the fruit-related essential oils in this entry, such as lemongrass, orange and grapefruit. They're definitely the type to add a hint of sweetness or acidity to ensure your dish is as special as the one who raised you.

When thinking of recipes with essential oils, there's often just a small use for each ingredient. A teaspoon of lemon or lime juice, a pinch of orange zest, or even a small hint of peppermint, often leads to large, unused amounts of ingredients left!

This is where essential oils can come in handy, there are a variety of uses they can give to provide your dish with a special kick.

Create a fruit-based yogurt using lemongrass and orange essential oil to provide a fruity fragrance, or maybe a hot chocolate with a hint of peppermint to provide a jolly feel for the drink! Explore your options and maybe you can just provide the perfect gift this Mother's Day.

Here are some simple recipes that uses essential oils as an example.

Essential Oil Diffuser

The traditional way to incorporate aromatherapy in your lives, use a diffuser!

Diffusers are used in order to disperse the chosen essential oil mix into the surrounding space via air, steam or heat. It transforms your room into an aromatic paradise, providing the corresponding mood seen at the table above!

Unfortunately, there's just so much variety that it can be a little overwhelming to understand which one to use. Thankfully, there are a variety of guides online for aromatherapy diffusers, allowing me to easily show you which ones can work quite well for you.

Nebulizing: Best for those who want the full experience of essential oil diffusion, does not break down oils into respective parts, and simply shows the scent in its entirety.

Evaporative: Best for those who want to enjoy different stages of essential oil mix, diffusing around the room in various parts. Great for those who want a variety of smells, as opposed to just one.

Heat: For those who want the aroma to spread around the room more evenly, as well as an economical use for a diffuser.

Ultrasonic: Best for those who want to have a diffuser on at night due to its limited noise, and can also act as a humidifier.

Beauty Routines

Provide your mum with a beautiful skincare routine by using essential oils!

Using essential oils in skincare routines not only establishes a great way to care for your skin, but also a standard method to incorporate the connected moods for each essential oil mix!

Though it should be noted that in order to utilise these oils, dilution should be prioritised in order to produce less risk of creating any adverse skin reactions by using essential oils.

Otherwise, essential oils are an ideal tool to add to any skincare routine!
